Happy fall Washington Square! After a break of a few years, we are happy to announce that the Scarecrow contest is back!
This year’s theme for the contest is Scarecrows On The Loose! Every entry should be a scarecrow that’s escaped the garden and has been caught mid-adventure — sipping a cocktail, walking the dog, teeing off, riding a bike, watching TV, you name it.
Build your scarecrow doing something everyday and unexpected, set it up in your yard, and give the neighborhood something fun to find on their walks this October. The scarecrow that gets the most neighborhood votes wins $100 and the coveted WSNA Scarecrow trophy, with the winner announced on October 24th at the block party.
How to enter
- It’s free! Email your name, address, and a photo of your scarecrow to washsqpasadena@gmail.com by Friday, October 16 to register.
- Have your scarecrow up and visible from the street by Saturday, October 17.
- Keep it on display through the week of October 24.
How winners are chosen
This one’s up to you! From October 17–23, take a stroll through the neighborhood and email your vote for your favorite scarecrow to washsqpasadena@gmail.com with the subject line “Scarecrow Vote ” so we can easily identify and count all the votes. Please also include the address of the scarecrow you are voting for along with your name and address.
(one vote per household — no voting for your own scarecrow!). The scarecrow with the most votes takes home the prize.
